Our engineers have many years of experience within the Fire Safety Sector and are British Approvals for Fire Extinguisher (BAFE) trained and Fire Extinguisher Trades Association (FETA) qualified to service all types of fire extinguishers in accordance with BS 5306 pt 3:2009 Commissioning and Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers.

All new fire extinguishers are Kite-marked and comply with BS EN3.

Firexo All Fires Fire Extinguishers

Firexo All Fires Fire Extinguishers are suitable for use on class A, B, C, D, E and F type fires. The sizes found within the range of these fire extinguishers are 2, 6 and 9ltr.

AFFF Foam

Working in a similar way to the water fire extinguisher, foam fire extinguishers help to reduce the oxygen supply to burning fuel and cool it. The discharged foam forms a blanket effect, which smothers and cools the burning materials and prevents reignition.  In commercial applications, it is often found that foam fire extinguishers are paired up with a CO2 extinguisher to cover multiple fire risks. Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) extinguishers are also effective on flammable liquids, making the extinguishers multipurpose.  A 6 litre foam fire extinguisher has a better fire rating than a 9 litre water and is only two thirds of the weight.

CO2

CO2 fire extinguishers provide a suitable extinguisher to cover fire risks involving flammable liquids and electrical hazards. It is the preferred choice of users and specifiers to cover electrical risks in modern offices, schools, hospitals and anywhere else that has electrical equipment.

As CO2 fire extinguishers don’t cover flammable solid fire risks (class A) it is usually necessary to accompany a CO2 fire extinguisher with a water or foam extinguisher.

As well as class B (paint, petrol etc) type fires the CO2 extinguisher is suitable for use on live electrical equipment.  The extinguisher contains pure carbon dioxide which is a residue-free clean extinguishing agent.  Unlike the standard hose supplied with other types of extinguishers, the CO2 extinguisher features a discharge horn.  Discharge horns can be single lined, or double lined ones are available providing a frost free element.  Carbon dioxide helps to extinguish a fire by removing the oxygen that is present.

Dry Powder

Powder fire extinguishers are suitable for use on class A (wood, paper etc), B (paint, petrol etc) and C (flammable gases) fires as well as live electrical equipment.  When a powder extinguisher is discharged it smothers, cools and extinguishes the fire.  The powder fire extinguisher is also known as the multi-purpose extinguisher, this is because it covers the majority of household fires.  Although powder extinguishers are effective, they can be quite messy when they have been discharged.

The residue can be harmful to electrical equipment and is not ideal for use in small, uncirculated areas.

Again, but in a different form, powder blocks the fuel from feeding off oxygen particles in the air and creates a thick residue that does not allow the covered fuel to re-ignite.

Wet Chemical

When tackling fires fuelled by large volumes of burning oil, there is only one type of extinguisher suitable.  Wet chemical fire extinguishers, unlike other types of media,  can not only be applied without causing the burning fuel to be splashed but they also apply a thick soapy foam that soaks into the burning fuel and stops re-ignition.

Wet chemical fire extinguishers are ideal for catering environments where cooking oils are used on a regular basis.  These extinguishers are suitable for use on class A (wood, paper etc), class B (paint, petrol etc) and class F (cooking oils, fats) type fires.  Traditionally, the class F rated fire extinguisher was only available in a 6ltr size unit; however, as the need for catering fire extinguishers grew, manufacturers brought out a larger range making them suitable for different applications.

With wet chemical extinguishers, the units are fitted with a lance to help the user keep a safe distance away from the fire but get the extinguisher media close to the fuel of the fire, putting it out more effectively.
